Description
Dans le département du Gard, la Bambouseraie en Cévennes se situe sur la commune de Générargues, à une dizaine de kilomètres au sud-ouest d’Alès, en pleine campagne. C’est ainsi que ce vaste jardin botanique a pu s’étendre et développer des espaces variés, pour le plus grand étonnement des visiteurs. 15 hectares de parc à parcourir des dimensions uniques en Europe ! En pleine Provence, la Bambouseraie est une invitation au voyage. On rencontre ici des essences venues de loin, et notamment bien sûr, des bambous. L’entreprise débute en 1856, lorsque Eugène Mazel, mordu de botanique, décide d’aménager son domaine de plantes exotiques. Après moult rebondissements dans l’existence de la Bambouseraie, cette dernière est aujourd’hui non loin d’être considérée comme monument historique ! Plusieurs espaces composent ce grand parc ouvert au public. La forêt de bambous géant, formant une véritable jungle, est impressionnante, surtout lorsque l’on apprend que le bambou… est une herbe ! D’autres arbres et plantes exotiques sont à découvrir dans le jardin botanique, tels que le Cyprès de Lawson, le Ginkgo biloba, le Magnolia géant, les palmiers de Chine, séquoias géants… On prend également plaisir à parcourir les aménagements de la Bambouseraie, le charmant Jardin des bassins d’Eugène, les serres Mazel, le village laotien comme si l’on y était, le jardin japonais et son cadre zen, et bien sûr le labyrinthe végétal, qui excite l’imagination des petits. Un petit restaurant permet de prendre un en-cas. Et pour ceux dont la visite donne des envies de jardinage, la Jardinerie, en fin de visite, complète la bamboutique (objets décoratifs, le bambou étant un matériau omniprésent…) en proposant la vente de plantes en pot, dont des bambous bien sûr ! Notons également que la Bambouseraie organise régulièrement des événements à thème ponctuels : une programmation sur laquelle garder un oeil donc !
